Sky Pirates and Air ships Oh my!

I WISH I could pull that off right in the world that's in the making, but I just can't do it right! WHY!?
Man, Writing a proper story is tough! But I want to talk about it… I, along with Ash and sometimes Inky are creating a world, a world of WONDER. Not really, but it’s really cool. It’s got airships and gem weaponry and swords and Elves and Goblins and evil and… I just can’t stop saying everything about it! But what is the responsibility? I am not the first to begin the world, Ash did. I’m sure he’ll talk about it some day in a post. I have been blessed to write for it.
I am in no way exaggerating. I have had more fun writing for this world than I do my own. So far, by my own count: 6 completed stories (lover’s ghost, Simoun Simula, Gil Colin Graham, Skyhunter War, Horror and a story I never named (scary sci-fi) some 7 uncompleted stories: (notably) Fuka and Kashigo, Greasers, and Faceless War. An alternate universe (if gunpowder had still been used), and a webcomic. And that’s just the notable stuff I’ve spent more than an hour on.
I know that Ash especially has written a great deal, and Inky has written a little as well. I haven’t even mentioned all the mechanics Ash and I have discussed, the history… This is a deep and varied world, and now, I shall share but a little of it!
THE SKYLORD ERA! I specialize in the Skylord era, it is my thing, and now, we shall talk to my hearts content about it. This is the ‘past’ we being in the present and the future as yet far off, of course. Pirates and Air Marines do battle in the sky so often that the nations at war have ceased their squabblings to watch, and participate in, this great struggle. It is an era of innovations, as scientists, mad or otherwise look deeply into the properties of gems, their combinations and the effects on people and items. Of note are Tomos and Dracon (who were infused with combinations gems, giving them different powers) and a prototypical sword, which could shoot diamond blasts. But these weren’t the only ones, oh no.
The era was so wrought with piracy and battles in the sky that Arcadia dedicated over twenty percent of it’s air force to the sole problem of rooting out privacy, setting famed Admiral Shane Revlin to head the group and end the threat once and for all. So that their people no longer fear the pirate flag. The taciturn admiral answers only to the Mystro, Admiral and the Exile, the High Lord and his own conscience. He will only take the very highest level captains prisoner, to execute publicly.
Pirates of note are the three top female ‘rookies’ Simca, an over steroided brawler, Sephira, a chess master who is more mob boss than actual pirate and Simoun, a woman who never gives up, even when faced with defeat. More importantly to the world governments are concerned with the Delor Pirates, led by Delor and his first mate Kuze, they lead seven notable pirate captains. Also: The Anaconda pirates, who specialize in business espionage. They themselves fight as differing ideals about the sky and piracy collide.
Delor desires power, and Kuze desires to kill his mother, Sephira, who taught him the most about manipulation. Surprising, their goals coincide a great deal. Anaconda, no friend of Delor’s, but realizing the value of not antagonizing him, works to quietly kill influential merchants, ship owners and the like to create a vacuum that Kuze, using contacts his mother gave him while they still ‘liked each other’ builds up a sizable business empire. Simoun, the main focus of my story, wants to take from merchants and appropriate to herself. Then, she, and her crew will spend it, live it up, realize they ran out and go get some more.
Simple? Not if Shane Revlin has anything to say about it, and he does. He and his second, Colonel Raething, start manipulating the special ops of the world governments into taking out minor pirates in that area, forcing more and more wanna-be pirates from making their own crews to joining larger and larger pirate crews. Larger crews are easier to track than small ones, and he hopes, with a combined effort with other nations air fleets to fight them, and bring them down, one by one.
But he wants targets, examples he can make of… and what better to do so than with… a tournament, ’sponsered’ by the Assassin’s guild. Pirates, even pirates like Delor and Sephira, prey on the vital merchant fleets that transport goods and services through out the world. For, even if one thousand ships are preyed on a day, a hundred thousand yet prosper in the sky. But even that is unacceptable.
The merchant guilds have all agreed, the only time every one of them agreed with each other, that the pirates must be destroyed. For every merchant raided, but not destroyed, they move up in the ranks… And the pirates believe them. Soon, Admiral Revlin will know the movements of pirates as they scourge the merchant fleets. But, this surprises him: Simoun Simula, Simca and Sephira, all new pirates are in the top five, consistantly. But, what he does not know is that Delor sees a faster way to be, the top. Kill the winners.
This isn’t the full story, but merely the first have. Above us are over 800 words. That’s right, 800 words about essentially one period of history. Some day, we’ll see more, and maybe even more people will start writing… and webcomic coming up, I’m so excited!
