Another season, another one of these.

  • Lupin The Third – More of the classic that hopes that trigger some of those nostalgia momnents of childhood with the master thief; hopefully this will be as good as that Fujiko centered season released a few years back.
  • Lance N’ Masques – Based on a light novel about a young man who is part of the last remaining order of chivalric knights in the 21st century, the Knights of the World. Studio Gokumi hasn’t really made a bad series yet and the premise seems interesting enough.
  • Young Black Jack – Younger version of the famed black market surgeon that punishes evil. Think batman if he went to med-school.
  • Kagewani – Creepy, horror series about mysterious creatures attacking people and a biologist that must find out the truth.
  • Heavy Object – Same author as the Index and Railgun series, focuses on wars fought between mech duels.
  • K RETURN OF KINGS – Sequel to the 2012 series about an alt-era Japan ruled by many kings with special abilities. The animation is superb, as expected by GoHands, but the story of the first season left much to be desired. The movie that happens inbetween the first and second seasons did redeem back some of it for me though.
  • Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo Returns – Sequel to a 2014 show, that was itself a sequel of a 14 year old show, about a genius detective.
  • Gakusen Toshi Asterisk (The Asterisk War) – A light novel adaptation that is being heavily advertised by Aniplex right now. Show revolves around floating cities created after humanities near-extinction, where people train to fight in yearly tournaments to determine the power balance of the world.
  • Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry (Chivalry of a Failed Knight)– Another light novel adaptation revolving around people being able to manifest their souls as weapons. Follows a typical protagonist deemed as “worthless”.
  • Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen  (Utawarerumono: The False Mask) – Sequel of sorts to the 2006 classic about a mysterious masked man that ends up building a demi-human empire, only to find out his existence is much more…
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) – Tagged with the catchphrase: “The sustenance of life, is on the battlefield.” Centers around a independance war on Mars with Gundams!
  • Comet Lucifer – Original fantasy-sci-fi series set in a world covered in crystals. Young boy meets myserious girl while collecting crystals underground… If nothing else the animation/scenery looks great.
  • Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou – Fantasy-boiling-pots based on the idea that if fantasy was real and coexisted in the world, the result is chaos.
  • Ore ga Ojou-sama Gakkou ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Gets♥Sareta Ken – Light novel adaptation about a ordinary boy kidnapped by an elite yound lady’s academy to be a “sample of the common” people. The school itself is full of sheltered girls that have never met male peers before.
  • Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru – Mystery series about a girl that uses bones of victims to help solve mysteries.
  • Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai (AntiMagic Academy 35th Test Platoon) – Based on a light novel about a problematic platoon of Anti-magic soldiers formed from bunch of self-centered people who can’t cooperate and have personality problems.
  • Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider – noitaminA mystery series based on a novel.
  • Owari no Seraph 2nd Season (Seraph of the End S2) – Sequel, based in post apocalyptic world where humans fight vampires. This season promises much more action.

  • DIABOLIK LOVERS MORE, BLOOD – A reverse harem show’s sequel. The previous season received tons of negative reviews for the power fantasies depicted, but I attribute those to more of the genre’s tropes than anything. Will probably watch sometime in the future after it finishes airing.
  • Noragami ARAGOTO – Sequel to the series about Yato, a shrineless Shinto god and his escapades. The first season was a bit more heartwarming than I expected and BONES has a history of good animation.
  • Soukyuu no Fafner EXODUS 2nd Season – More Fafnir, end-of-the-world mecha fighting series. I loved the first season, but I never watched Exodus season 1 (technically Fafnir Season 2). This will be on a to-watch-in-the-future list.
  • Owarimonogatari – More from the long running Monogatari series.
  • Kowabon – Rotoscoped horror series with a self-described theme of ‘Bondage x Stylish Horror’.
  • Haikyuu!! Second Season – Sequel to the interesting male high-school basketball volleyball series.
  • Komori-san wa Kotowarenai! – By the creator of I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying, comes another 4-koma based series about a girl that accepts nearly any request given to her.
  • One-Punch Man – Superhero show about a guy that can defeat anyone with one punch.
  • World Trigger: Toubousha Hen – Another sequel about a show where agents with special weapons protect Earth from the monsters that spill from the other dimensions.
  • Hidan no Aria AA – Sequel to the light novel adaptation about an S-Ranked armed detective.
  • Dance with Devils – Dark-fantasy reverse harem,
  • Garo: Guren no Tsuki – Second series in the Garo project, this time based in the Heian Period!
  • Shinmai Maou no Testament BURST – Sequel to show about hero gaining a demon-lord candidate sister.
  • VALKYRIE DRIVE -MERMAID- – Based on a game about “beautiful girls fighting each other.” Reminds me of Senran Kagura, Ikki Tousen etc…
